how it works
To get the most out of your ClearCorrect treatment, it’s important to understand how the aligners work and what you need to do to wear them properly. ClearCorrect is a set of nearly invisible plastic aligners that put pressure on precise areas of your teeth to move them into proper position. You’ll need to wear your aligners for 22 hours per day to get the best results, and only remove them to eat, drink, brush, and floss. It’s also very important that you clean your aligners every night with warm water. How Long Does ClearCorrect Take?
How long treatment will take depends on many factors, such as the severity of your orthodontic problems and how many sets of aligners you will need to correct your tooth alignment. On average, ClearCorrect takes 8-14 months which is much shorter than the 1-2 years of traditional metal braces.
Shifting your teeth as fast as possible, however, revolves around your compliance with the treatment. You will need to wear your aligners for a minimum of 22 hours a day, only taking them out to eat, brush your teeth, or to clean the aligners. Be careful that you’re timing how long you keep your aligners out when you’re eating or drinking anything other than water.
You shouldn’t keep the aligners out for more than 2 hours a day. Failure to wear your aligners for the recommended amount of time can cause your next set of aligners from our Oak Creek practice to feel too tight or not fit at all. This will prolong your overall treatment because you will have to wear your last set of aligners for longer to shift your teeth enough to fit in the new set of aligners.
How To Take Care of Clear Aligners
To care for your aligners, you need to keep them clean, prevent them from drying out or changing shape, and prevent wear and tear and staining. Always take out your aligners before eating or drinking anything other than water.
Sodas, juices, or hot liquids can only be consumed when you’ve removed the aligners. Hot liquids can alter the mold of your aligner, changing the shape, and making them ineffective at shifting your teeth. You also don’t want food particles stuck in your aligners, as it is unhygienic and can lead to cavities.
Food and drinks can also cause discoloration of your aligners, so when it comes to eating, remove your aligners and rinse them out. Then, place them in their storage case. After having your meal, make sure you brush and floss your teeth before placing the aligners back on.
You’ll also routinely clean your aligners by placing them in a denture cleaning solution and then scrubbing them with a soft-bristle toothbrush. We recommend soaking them in this solution for 15 minutes once a day. Don’t use abrasive products such as toothpaste or mouthwash to clean your aligners, as they can cause scratches and staining.
Am I A Good Candidate For ClearCorrect?
A good candidate for ClearCorrect is someone who wants to improve their tooth alignment but isn’t interested in wearing uncomfortable metal wires and brackets around their teeth that leave them feeling self-conscious and make cleaning their teeth very difficult.
If you’d like to be able to straighten your teeth discreetly and comfortably with removable clear aligners which enable you to thoroughly clean your teeth and eat whatever you want, ClearCorrect in Oak Creek might be right for you!
ClearCorrect might not be suitable for patients with severe malocclusions. You should be in good oral health and willing to comply with treatment. ClearCorrect is best suited for adults because children and teenagers are less likely to wear their aligners for 22 hours a day and keep them clean.
