What Is Dental Bonding?
Dental bonding uses dental resin to reshape and restore your teeth, and cover-up cosmetic flaws. This tooth-colored resin is similar to the material used to fill your teeth if you have a cavity. But instead of being used to fill and restore a damaged tooth, it’s applied directly to the outside of the tooth. Then, it’s shaped and sculpted to cover up cosmetic flaws such as stains, gaps, and chips, restoring the shape and cosmetic appearance of the tooth.
How Does the Dental Bonding Process Work?
Dental bonding only takes a single appointment, and is completely non-invasive. Once Dr. Saleki has approved you for treatment, you’ll come in for your appointment. He will apply an acid solution to each tooth that is being bonded. This roughens the surface and provides a secure hold for the resin.
Then, Dr. Saleki will choose a dental resin that matches the shade of your teeth, and apply it directly to your tooth. Next, he will sculpt it into the proper overall size and shape, and harden it with a UV light.
After the resin has hardened, he will use a dental drill to continue refining the shape of the resin until it looks seamless and natural. Then, he will buff and polish the resin so that it matches the surrounding teeth. This process only takes 30-60 minutes per tooth, so most patients opt to have multiple teeth bonded in a single treatment session.
What Cosmetic Issues Can Be Fixed with Bonding?
Dental bonding can fix a wide variety of different cosmetic issues, including:
- Uneven teeth
- Small or misshapen teeth
- Severe tooth stains that can’t be treated with teeth whitening
- Gaps between your teeth
- Minor tooth chipping
If you’re self-conscious about your smile in Oak Creek, Franklin or South Milwaukee due to one or more of these cosmetic issues, dental bonding at Oak Creek Dental Care may be right for you.
The Benefits of Dental Bonding
Why choose dental bonding instead of an alternative treatment like veneers?
- Non-invasive – Bonding does not require the removal of any natural tooth enamel. It’s totally non-invasive. Usually, you will not even need your mouth to be numbed during the procedure.
- Affordable – Compared to most other cosmetic treatments, dental bonding is very affordable. This makes it a good choice for patients who want to restore their smiles, but who may be on a tight budget.
- Fast results – Bonding takes only one appointment, and you can usually have multiple teeth bonded in a single session. This means you’ll get immediate results, and can start enjoying your new smile right away.
